OF COURSE, we are a wooden pallet company, specializing in used pallets. We are not asking for all your pallet business. What we are asking for is a portion of your pallet buying to “GAIN YOUR GREEN”confidence in us.
These are a few items we have done to save energy summer and winter.
6. Pay a paper, steel & plastic recycler to take you recyclables. If you do not know who to use, network, ask some of your freinds, local suppliers or customers, they might already have some contacts. If your amount to be recycled is small, join up your green efforts together with them.
7. Ask you suppliers or customers if it can be arrange for larger orders/pickups/delivers, for example: 2 times a day, 2 times a week or 2 times a month, instead of smaller deliveries of 4 or 5 times a day, 4 times a week or 4 times a month . Make it work for your system. Imagine the fuel saving on this alone in the USA
8. In reference to wood pallets “GO GREEN”, try to buy some used pallets instead of all new. Try to use some off size used wooden pallets. By using off size wood skids you are saving trees, money, fuel, energy and landfills.
10. Some pallet companies offer free pallet disposal. Call them for details.
11. Atlas Wood Products – AWP offers free pallet disposal.
a. if you buy wooden pallets or crates from AWP, AWP takes your used old wood pallets away for free.
b. If you have you own truck, AWP accepts some sizes in for free.
12. Turn off all coffee pots, room heaters or air conditioners that are not in use, putting a switch type timer on them sometimes helps. Turn off all unneeded electric.
13. Always close all doors in office or occupied heated or air-conditioned areas.
14. Put door closers on all doors in areas of the warehouses or offices that do not have them as soon as possible.
15. Put trim kits around all loose fitting windows & doors to stop outside air from entering occupied areas. If funds are a problem, the old method of plastic over the all the windows and doors does work.
16. All these items help save energy for summer and winter. For example, insulation is for hot or cold.
17. ALL type of doors requires a door sweep on the bottom to stop the movement of air. If you do not have the time or money to install a door sweep, the method of old towels or used shrink-wrap at the bottom of the door always works.
18. It does not cost much to be “GO GREEN” just some simple little steps to start.
19. Have flex hours for your building being open for delivers. Have some people come in a little early and some people stay a little later for your trucks or delivers. This alone saves fuel for your own trucks or your supplier’s trucks delivering into your area. The old days of 7 to 3:30 are gone.
20. If you have public transpotation in your area, ask your employees to use the public transportation. Be flexiable sometimes the public transportation is not always on time. Split the bus pass with your people with a correctly paid reciept. You will be surprised now they show up for work.
